(September 11, 2009)FOCUS LLC, a national middle market investment banking firm providing merger, acquisition, divestiture and corporate finance services, announces Steven Murphy has joined FOCUS as a Senior Advisor in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Murphy has a great deal of experience increasing shareholder value in the information technology industry.

“In his 25 years in the business, Steven has led eight major acquisitions, two management buy-outs and a public to private sale. This is the kind of experience that helps our bankers and our clients,” said Doug Rodgers, chief executive officer of FOCUS.

Mr. Murphy was recently the interim CEO and Director of Plasmon Inc. where he led the growth and positive cash flow turnaround of the data storage and content management business and subsequent public to private sale of four operating divisions on behalf of the senior equity and debt holders.

Mr. Murphy also led the IBM Data Mobility services group in 2007 as a result of IBM’s acquisition of Softek Storage Solutions Inc. where he also served as CEO and president. During his tenure, he helped Softek become the industry’s recognized leader in data storage software. Prior to Softek’s management buyout, Mr. Murphy was CEO of Fujitsu Software and of its predecessor Amdahl Software.

Steven holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University. He has been a national award winner of the Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year. He is married with two children and resides in the Washington DC area.
