Supersonic Transport: Déjà Vu All Over Again?

By Paul V. Mifsud, Esq., MifnetWORLD

“In February 2016, Lockheed Martin received a contract from NASA to submit a preliminary design utilizing the firm’s Quiet Supersonic Technology (QueSST) to create a Low Boom Flight Demonstration Aircraft or LBFD. As a result, in April of this year, Lockheed Martin won a $247.5 million cost-plus NASA contract to design, build, and deliver the Low Boom X-Plane in late 2021.

“Next September 2019, Lockheed Martin must deliver its Critical Design Review to demonstrate that the maturity of the design is appropriate to support proceeding with
a full-scale fabrication assembly integration and test—in short, to determine whether the technical effort is on track to complete the flight and ground system development and admission.”
