Job Description: 

The FOCUS Government and Defense team is expanding, and we are looking to fill a pivotal role within the team to grow our footprint in the government contracting industry.  This role is responsible for both sourcing new opportunities and executing M&A transactions. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Deal Execution: Managing the M&A transaction process from start to finish. 
  2. Business Development: Identify and cultivate relationships with government contractors and other relevant businesses to generate new business opportunities. Work closely with referral sources, including law firms and other professional service providers, to leverage their networks and generate referrals. 
  3. Industry Engagement: Attend industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to stay updated on market trends, identify potential clients, and establish FOCUS Investment Banking as a thought leader in the government and defense sector. Develop industry-relevant materials such as blogs, articles, and industry reports to showcase FOCUS’s expertise and attract potential clients. 
  4. Team Support: Assist other Managing Directors and help grow the government and defense industry team by providing strategic insights, market intelligence, and operational support. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field. 
  • M&A experience leading government contracting transactions. 
  • Proven experience in business development, relationship management, or sales within the government or defense sector. 
  • Strong understanding of government contracting processes, regulations, and industry dynamics. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. 
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely in a virtual environment. 
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, industry events, and conferences. 
  • Series 79 and 63 licenses required.
